Shaq Pays For Stranger’s Engagement Ring. “I’m Just Trying To Make People Smile.”

By Zac Cornell

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal proves once again why he is such a beloved role model. The super successful sportscaster and businessman admits that he commits random acts of kindness every day to help make people happy. One lucky recipient of his generosity was a young man who was in Zales jewelry store in Atlanta on April 7th discussing his payment plan to complete the purchase of his fiance’s engagement ring. O’Neal overheard the conversation and, admiring the hardworking guy, promptly offered to pay for the ring. After the story went viral, O’Neal explained on his show “NBA on TNT”, “He was saying, ‘Hey, how much do I owe to pay off my ring?’ And I was like, ‘My man, how much is the ring?’” O’Neal revealed that at first the man wouldn’t accept his offer, but he convinced him by telling him,  “This is something I do every day. I’m just trying to make people smile.”

O’Neal said that he doesn’t make these kind gestures for publicity, and normally wouldn’t have talked about it if it hadn’t become public. “I’m into making people happy, so whenever I leave the house, I just try to do a good deed,” he said.

Shaq’s generosity and kindness is a real inspiration and what this world needs right now.
