In the final game against Team Serbia, Dennis Schröder, the standout point guard, showcased his skills with an impressive performance of 28 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Johannes Voigtmann also stood out with a display of 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Schröders exceptional leadership qualities, court vision, and scoring prowess played a role in Germany’s journey throughout the tournament. With consistent contributions, averaging 19.1 points, 6.1 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, Schröder truly shone as a deserving recipient of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 TISSOT MVP title.
While Schröder undeniably led the team to victory, it was truly an effort from all members involved. Franz Wager and Daniel Theis provided support on both ends of the court with their offensive skills and defensive prowess. Moreover, Germany was fortunate to be guided by Coach Gordon Herbert, who had previously led them to a bronze medal in the 2022 European Championship. His strategic coaching tactics proved vital in overcoming opponents such as Team Serbia, Team Canada, and Team USA.
This remarkable triumph in the FIBA Basketball World Cup showcases Germany’s basketball growth and development on an international stage. This accomplishment has brought glory to Germany and ignited a newfound passion for basketball among the younger generation in the country.
