Soccer Players and Fans Show Support For Ukraine

About 40,000 fans gave a standing ovation for Ukrainian soccer player Roman Yaremchuk during a game Sunday night in Lisbon. A player for Portuguese club Benfica, Yaremchuk was brought to tears by the show of support from the entire stadium filled with Ukraine flags, banners, and cheers. 

Yaremchuk also received love and support from his teammates. The Benfica players walked onto the pitch wearing the Ukrainian colors, and Yaremchuk was given the captain armband by defender Jan Vertonghen.

The governing body of European soccer (UEFA) has made a statement against Russia, deciding to deprive Russia of hosting the Champions League final as planned. The Polish, Swedish, and Czech Republic National teams have all said that their authorities will boycott any game against Russia.
