Joe Tsai, owner of the Brooklyn Nets is one of the heroic people behind the life-saving donation of 1,000 ventilators and other crucial medical equipment to New York State to help Covid-19 patients survive. The Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation and the Jack Ma Foundation also gave one million surgical masks and one million N95 masks to New York state, essential items for healthcare workers which have been in dangerous short supply.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the ventilators arrived at Kennedy airport on Saturday, April 4th, saying “This is a big deal, and it’s going to make a significant difference for us.” Cuomo also explained that the state had reached out to the businessmen for help in dealing with the Chinese government noting that “we’re not really China experts here.”
Mr. Tsai and Mr. Ma founded the Chinese internet company Alibaba which is like China’s version of Amazon.
